ねじれた二本の帯がDNA、横木の一本ずつが塩基対(A-T, G-C)です。この長い文字列の中に、書き換えたい一箇所——標的があります。緑に光る12塩基がその標的(プロトスペーサー)、すぐ隣のオレンジの3塩基がPAMと呼ばれる目印。ゲノムは30億文字。その中のたった一文を、どうやって狙うのでしょう。
