The one sentence to rewrite

The two twisted ribbons are DNA, and each rung is a base pair (A-T, G-C). Somewhere in this long string of letters is the one place to rewrite — the target. The 12 bases glowing green are that target (the protospacer), and the 3 orange bases right next to it are a marker called the PAM. The genome is three billion letters. How do you aim at just one sentence among them?
