The land moves as a collection of broken plates
The rock at your feet feels like an unmoving foundation. But the Earth’s surface is broken into a few rigid plates, moving over the flowing rock beneath at the speed a fingernail grows. The top face of the block is a map, the front face a cross-section.

Looking only at the correspondence between the boundaries on top and the cross-section on the front, build a map of where and what happens.
